Blog Will Be Moving Soon...

Got a heads up from my homey Matt Nolan that blogger cant carry wordpress's jock so I will be getting it moved soon, probably this weekend. I have registered w/ worpress but haven't actually started the blog so now its giving me a hard time about posting bc I inadvertantly signed up as a commentor only. So once I get home and can use a real computer instead of my phone I will get it straightened out. Also, I don't know if I will be able to import my previous posts to wordpress, so if that is the case, my final post on this blogsite will just be a link to the new one.

Deadlift Training Wk 10

435lbs for 2 reps

455lbs for 1 rep - New Max

470lbs for 1 rep - New Max again


Next week is my last deadlift workout until the meet.  Won't do any rep work at all except for warmups.  Next week is all about getting the pounds up as high as possible and figuring out my opening weight for the deadlift event.  Tentatively, 450 will be the opener.  The plan is to go 450, 470, and then go balls out for 500 on the last attempt.  That is actually what next week workout will be.  I need to see if I can hit 500 after two other heavy singles.  That will give me an idea if I am even going to have anything left in the tank to attempt 500 being that deadlift is the last event of the day.  I'll post some more vids next week for the deadlift and once again for squat on the last squat day.  There won't be any vids for bench press because my videographer is also my spotter.

Squat Training for Week 10


As promised, I put on the singlet, went to the gym and did my squat training for the week.  The biggest reason that I got vid of myself squatting in the singlet is because it is much easier to tell if the crease of my hips are lower than the top of the knee which is what is considered legal depth.  First off I would like to apologize for the horrible video quality.  I had no idea that the camera on my phone sucked so bad.  The audio is ok but some of what I am saying is a little garbled.  The first vid is a one rep depth test of 405lbs in my old knee wraps.  The second vid was supposed to be a two rep attempt at 455lbs, but I only did one.  After the first rep my jaw was hurting from the internal pressure and I was seeing those little floating spots in front of my eyes.  I did end up doing two more singles at my old max of 470lbs but I needed Nick Smith (Training partner, Photographer, "Coach" for the meet, old highschool bud) to drop the camera and spot me for those reps.

Its On Like Donkey Kong! ("Its Official" for all you white folk out there)

1 year NASA membership has been purchased, Registration for the NASA South Texas Open has been submitted and fees have been paid.  I will be lifting in the 275.5lb class, Submasters Pure Division(30-39 lifetime steriod free), Unequipped Full Meet PowerLifting event.  July 16th 2011 at the Alvin HighSchool Gym. Lifting starts at 10am, I know you don't have shit else to do so come on out and be part of my fan club in the crowd. For those of you too lame to make it, I am hereby appointing my lovely wife Amanda Woods to the position of Director of Multimedia Outreach. So she will be updating my facebook for me throughout the meet. Mainly just the lift attempts and if they were successful or not. 

And for the rest of you that get your jollies from sick, perverted crap, I will be posting pics, maybe vids, of tomorrow morning's squat workout in full competition dress...Singlet, wraps, chalk, pastey thighs and all...

Probably wont update again till the day before the meet.

The gear is in...

Got it all in the mail Monday afternoon. A pair of Titan THP 36" wrist wraps, a pair of Titan 2meter THP knee wraps, a pound of chalk, and most importantly the Titan singlet.  Tried it on this morning to get an idea of how dumb I'm going to look. Lessons learned: #1 probably should have gone with the next size up #2 going to have to wear the tighty whitey style undies because boxer briefs just bunch up under it. I will post pics and maybe a training vid from this Friday's squat workout. Going to wear it to squat in this week so I can see if I am getting to the proper depth on my squats.

Lawd I am sore!!

Last two workouts have really kicked my ass this week. Still feeling the heavy deads and I may have aggrivated my shoulder again today on either speed bench or push jerks...not sure which. Only 4.5 more weeks to go though so I'm gonna have to push through it/figure out a way to rehab it quickly. Ordered my new knee and wrist wraps, and also the singlet for the meet last night. If it ships today, I should have it by Sat so I can at least try out the new wrist wraps. The ones I have now suck big bawls. And as promised I'll squeez my fatass in the singlet and post pics so ya'll have a preview of what I'm gonna look like come meet day.  Thankfully, not many people I know are coming and I'd rather bare my pasty white thighs to strangers.

That's it for now, hopefully I will post this weekend again.
